CELTIC have a strong squad at the moment but there’s likely to be some movement in January with regards to personnel. With the squad so large, there will be more outs than ins for sure.

One familiar name which has been thrown out again over the past week is Filip Benkovic with the former Celtic loan star yet to play under Brendan Rodgers.

We reported former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers might be looking to loan the defender out this January. This is has sparked the debate if Celtic should try and bring the Croatian back to the club. In the summer, many supporters would have been falling over themselves to get the player re-signed. Right now, the way things are going – a lot of fans don’t see the big man getting in ahead of the current pair.

Jullien and Ajer are building a relationship at centre back while they have Hatem in reserve and Jozo Simunovic when he’s back from injury. Could the player get the game time he’s after at Celtic Park?

Some Celtic supporters on our Facebook page gave their opinion:

  1. If the bold moonlighter brendan wants big kris ajer then i am sure celtic can do a deal……….age wise and progression wise ,with today’s market for defenders who can actually defend and bring the ball out from the back ,ajer is worth 26mill plus benkovic as a makeweight ,almost 100 games in the spfl cups and europe, still not 22 years of age(the guy has twice the experience of benkovic…….and what price is brendan putting on him………….mmmmmmmmmmmmm………..answers on a celtic postcard please,,,,,,HH

  2. Maybe Rodgers wants to loan Benkovic for us to develop him and overload us at the back, leading to friction caused by maybe big Kris sitting out ?
Then go for the kill with a cash + Benkovic deal for Ajer.
Cynical ? Yes, but thats how i see Brendan operating these days.
He’ll have been priming the minds of some players during his time with us…Ajer,Calmac,Christie and probably more.
If it was up to me i’d avoid doing business with him on any level.
