Former Celtic academy star Kieran Tierney sold new Hibs goalkeeper Matt Macey on a move to the Scottish Premiership.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times, Macey who was a team-mate of Tierney’s at Arsenal spoke in length with the Scotsman about the prospect of joining the Edinburgh side.

“I spoke to Kieran at length about the opportunity to come to Hibs, about Scottish football and the country in general. Kieran was really positive about every aspect of it, whether it was the club or Edinburgh itself.

“As I said, I was already keen to come but it was good to hear him talk so enthusiastically about it all. He backed up the gut feeling I had. Kieran’s someone I have a lot of time for and he’s probably one of the first names on the team-sheet – if not the first – at Arsenal just now.”

Jack Ross’ side was in desperate need of a keeper after number one, Ofir Marciano picked up and injury and Dillon Barnes was recalled by parent club, Queens Park Rangers. So I’m sure he will be delighted to get the 6 ft 7 goalie signed up.

Tierney is someone who would always talk up the Scottish game with his love for Celtic.

Having sold Macey the idea of joining Hibs, it is now highly likely that his former Arsenal team-mate will make his debut at Celtic Park on Monday. So he may be wishing him all the best but probably not for his first game on Monday evening.
