KIERAN TIERNEY has told the Arsenal website it was the hardest decision of his life to leave Celtic and revealed the frantic timeline from hearing a bid had been accepted to heading for London.
“I got told at seven o’clock last night that I had to be at the airport in an hour, so I had to go quickly.
“I was actually down the park with my friends training. They play with their local team so I was down watching them and I got a phone call that I needed to go. I got to the airport and the flight was delayed two-and-a-half hours, with another hour’s drive for a hotel and I probably got zero sleep, so I was back up at half five today.”
Tierney revealed it was the “hardest decision in my whole life” to leave Celtic.
“When I was younger, it was always Celtic. The ambition was Celtic and that was my dream when I was younger. But when you get older… I’ve done that, I’ve made my dream, I’ve lived my dream and I’ve loved every single minute of it.
“Now I just feel was the right time to take a step on. I feel this is a great opportunity for me.”
Kieran leaves Celtic becoming their record breaking sale. It was only last summer the record was set by Moussa Dembele.
The defender has been part of the side since Ronny Deila handed the player his debut. Many believed the player could have been a one man team but the bright lights of the Premier League have once and for all taught us the rarity of such a feat.
Kieran will go into play in some big games this season. However, one thing he will 100% not be doing this season is playing in the Champions League. It will be up to the former Celtic player to help them get there next season.
For Neil Lennon and Celtic – we move on and we move on quickly.
Did KT leave so that he did not have to wear the 3rd choice strip???
Wish you well and hope his admission he wanted to leave stops the faux hero worship and board bashing that they forced him out.
