Kris Boyd seemed taken aback by Celtic’s result on Sunday against Dundee, 24 hours after his former side lost to Dundee Utd at Tannadice.

After the first game of the season where Celtic dropped points, many people on the other side of Glasgow thought they might be in for another easy ride. Celtic allowing themselves to fall behind at the start of the season.

The pair are now on level points with Celtic having the edge on goal difference after the first two rounds of fixtures.

There’s a long way to go for the Hoops if they are to be consistent enough to maintain a title challenge but the signs of a revival are there.

Ange Postecoglou is trying to quietly go about his business and the signing of Furuhashi was a move solely born out of the manager’s wishes.

If it pays off, Ange will get the plaudit.

Speaking about Furuhashi, Sky Sports bumbling pundit Kris Boyd seems spooked after the weekend’s events and has made the admission Celtic could be onto something.

“It wasn’t just the goals, it was his [Kyogo’s] movement. I thought it was excellent. I spoke to one of my mates as well and that is exactly what I said. His movement was unbelievable.

“Even the little one or two yards to take the defenders short and then peel off the back of them. It was top class finishing.

“Celtic are going to need their players to step up. They have been criticised and rightly so. Even their own fans have been criticising them. But yesterday was a statement that ‘we are still here’ and we will challenge Rangers.

“It is early doors but if that team gels together and the Rangers team goes back to the levels of what it was showing last season then we’ve got an exciting title race on.”

Celtic will not count their chickens and Ange Postecoglou has made it clear he can’t and won’t get carried away by the Dundee game. He knows there will be tight games where the team need to show mettle and character. It’s easier to put on a show once you’ve got a few goals behind you.

  2. Does Boyd believe that Sevco is the only team in the league that Celtic has to challenge? There are 10 other teams, ask Dundee United Boyd.
