Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi has been named as the Cinch Premiership Player of the Month for August [@CelticFC].

The Japanese forward had a tremendous month having scored in every game he played in during August scoring a phenomenal six goals in four matches.

Kyogo returned to the Celtic first team in April after being out since Christmas with an injury but still managed to finish the season with a well deserved 20 goals in all competitions.

His form throughout August was exceptional with goals coming against Ross County, Kilmarnock, Hearts and Dundee United with three of those games being on the road.

The standout performance amongst those fixtures was his terrific first half hat-trick against Dundee United with his second goal being a real contender for goal of the season.

Unfortunately, the Japanese forward sustained an injury early on in the match against Rangers but will be hoping to return to the starting eleven for Celtic’s trip to Warsaw to take on Shakhtar Donetsk.

“I’m happy to get Player of the Month, my teammates always give me good passes and I just score the goals and I’m happy”, said Kyogo Furuhashi speaking exclusively to Celtic TV.

“It always makes me happy and every goal is for the supporters.

“We keep working hard every game and training session and I hope we score more goals and I keep doing my best.”

The 27-year old makes it all sound so simple but he is atop quality player and Celtic are very lucky to have him.

He also conducted the interview without translation which was great to see and full credit to him.

Let’s hope Kyogo doesn’t have to do a sit down conversation with Si Ferry and Paul Slane which, then again, I’m sure would be well worth a watch.
