Following the unexpected new of Jota’s imminent Celtic departure to the Middle East, speculation has been widespread regarding an exit for several other Hoops players.

Talismanic striker Kyogo Furuhashi is one of those but when writing a piece for Japanese outlet Sponichi, he indicated his desire to stay with the Hoops.

Kyogo said (Sponichi):

“Celtic is the club with great history. There are many players who want to play here for as long as possible, including me.”

Although this appears to be hugely encouraging, Celtic fans will naturally proceed to these comments with an air of caution.

Ange Postecoglou said things along the lines of the above and look how his future played out.

Nevertheless, it would be great for Celtic if Kyogo did stay as Brendan Rodgers could undoubtedly help him develop even further.

This is something the Japanese touched on, saying there is still new heights for him to hit next season:

“But I still have room for development. I want to be a player who can score more goals. I will continue to work hard next season so that I can become a more powerful player.”

34 goals in 2022/23, if Kyogo is aiming to become even better than this for 2023/24, it is only positive for Celtic.

Despite these aims, the 28 year old did backtrack and say anything can happen in football:

“But no one knows the future. Players may be injured or are transferred. And some players may be retiring. I never know about my future, so I just want to enjoy every moment at Celtic.”

Hopefully Kyogo does stay at Celtic.

What he brings to the team is so difficult to replace but if all Hoops fans had their way, Brendan Rodgers would be building the team around him for the next few years.
