LEWIS MORGAN’S time at Sunderland came to a heartbreaking end this afternoon with the Black Cats being denied promotion to the Championship with the last kick of the ball in the Wembley Play-Off Final.

Lewis came on as a substitute on the 9th minute when Sunderland were leading against Charlton after a bizarre own goal. The Black Cats were pegged back and as the ball fell into the box in the 94th minute it would be Charlton who would get the rub of the green as the ball hit the back of the net.

Jack Ross and his men have another year in League One after looking certain for automatic promotion not so long ago, a massive end of season collapse seen the Sunderland team drop out of the top two and had to settle for a playoff place.

Lewis has had an up and down season with the English club and he now heads back to Celtic. With Maryan Shved coming into the side next term, it’s going to be tough for Morgan to try and cement his place. Neil Lennon will likely give him a chance.
