English Premier League side Leeds United have reportedly had several bids rejected by Celtic for young left-back Matthew Anderson.

In recent weeks, the Elland Road side looks to be coming closer to signing another Celtic youngster in Leo Hjelde as the two parties continue to work on a deal.

However, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, they have also had several bids turned down by the Hoops as they look to take another well-regarded defender away from the club.

The report states: “The Whites made a number of attempts to sign Matthew Anderson from Celtic this summer but saw bids for the teenage left-back rejected. They are still working on a deal to take left-sided centre-half Leo Hjelde from Celtic Park.”

Some supporters have become frustrated by the club losing some of our best young talents who aren’t granted enough chances or given at the very least some sort of pathway to the first team.

So far, fans will be hoping that we could be seeing some positive signs with the B side recently having regular action in the Lowland League and Ange Postecoglou’s use of youngsters such as Adam Montgomery.

The teenage full-back signed a three-year contract extension with the club in 2020, so fingers crossed the club can keep ahold of one of our current sought-after talents.
