Brazilian legend Kaka has put his extra time goal against Celtic as one of the best he has ever scored when asked for his top three by UEFA’s social media team.

Kaka scored the only goal in a two-legged tie which went to extra time in the San Siro.

Gordon Strachan’s men put up a fantastic effort as they tried in vain to get to the last eight of the competition. That night Celtic lined up:  Boruc, Telfer, McManus, O’Dea, Naylor, Nakamura (Miller 106), Lennon, Sno (Beattie 97), McGeady, Jarosik (Gravesen 62), Vennegoor of Hesselink. Subs Not Used: Brown, Wilson, Kennedy, Riordan.

It’s pretty crazy to think Celtic held their own against the Italian giants with a team of misfits.

Speaking about the goal, Kaka acknowledged how hard a game it was for Milan.

“The goal against Celtic in the Round of 16 of the 2007 Champions League.

“The game had already gone into extra time.

“I received the ball in midfield, went on a run and shot, the ball passed under him.

“It was a very tough game.”

Up against the likes of Dida, Pirlo, Kaka and Seedorf – there was no shame in the exit but a lingering feeling Celtic could have snatched it at one point.

One report from the game back in 2007 made us laugh.

“Celtic threw on strikers Craig Beattie and Kenny Miller but could not muster the energy to pressure Dida’s goal.” the BBC Wrote.

Maybe we had it coming!

Celtic got to the last 16 of the Champions League twice under Gordon Strachan and were put out by Barcelona also. A pulsating 3-2 win for Barca at Celtic Park seen the bhoys bow out on that occasion.
