Celtic are reportedly part of a host of names who is targeting a move for Scunthorpe youngster Joey Dawson.
According to the72, Celtic are interested in making a move for the 17-year old who has only made one appearance for the League 2 side and become their youngest ever debutant. But he has impressed heavily impressed at the youth level and that attracted the interest of the Hoops and clubs such as Derby.
Scunthorpe is looking to tie the player up on a new deal having offered him a new contract in the last few weeks. He is also known as the nephew of former Tottenham and Norwich defender Michael Dawson who played in the English Premiership.
Many fans will probably remember our last signing from Scunthorpe with Gary Hooper joining from the EFL side and going on to become a success in Glasgow.
Of course, it is unlikely Dawson would be as instant a success as Hooper was but he may be one for the future that we should be keeping our eye on.
While there can’t be any major type signings, the turnover in the summer means young players are still being scouted and recruited if they can add value to the rebuild.
