It was widely reported this week that Celtic starlet Rocco Vata had changed agency.

The confirmation came on Thursday evening when CAA Base announced their newest acquisition on social media.

The large football agency has taken on the Celtic winger, who has just one-year left on his current Celtic deal.

Switching agents is never a good signal that someone is ready to sign a new long term deal with their current club, from experience of covering Celtic for well over a decade.

Rocco has been one of the stand-out players for the bhoys and Celtic’s academy seems to be a hot spot for EPL teams coming in and cherry-picking our best players. It keeps happening and the rise at Ben Doak at Liverpool leaves us dreaming what could have been.

Modern football is cutthroat and it doesn’t count for much who the player supports. Ben Doak and his family are big Celtic fans and they decided his career was best served away from the Hoops. Rocco Vata has his dad Rudi Vata who played for the bhoys, and his family are die hard Celtic supporters. Is that enough for young players to stay at the club, once it might have been, but not anymore.

Celtic need to convince their best talent to stay. If Brendan Rodgers believes Rocco can make an impact this season, showing him the path to the first team could go a long way.

  1. How can any youth progress if Coaches don’t bring them thru to 1st team ….Wait too long & they’re gone…big clubs but in too many foreigners ( Not Racist am just stating a fact as I see it ) Top Clubs nowadays have maybe 25/30 adult players if your lucky as a youth you might sit on bench 2/3 times a year if thru injuries you might get lucky 5mins end of game….B4 you know it up & coming youth is gone to rivals whatever league…Sad but true!!
