Ange Postecoglou was on Greek TV this week speaking in Greek as he was grilled about his time at Celtic so far.

During the conversation, former Celtic striker Mark Viduka popped up in a pre-recorded video clip to praise the current Celtic manager.

“I just wanted to say congratulations on the job you’ve done so far at Celtic. You’ve done a great job and I know it’s a big responsibility, it’s a big club and a lot of pressure” Viduka told Ange via Nova Sports.

“Keep flying the flag for Aussies in Europe, we’re very proud of you”

Viduka was as frustrating as he was talented back in his Celtic days. Shortly after signing for Celtic from Croatia Zagreb, the player jumped on a flight to Australia and declared he was to stressed to focus on football. He would eventually make his debut for Celtic during the ill-fated Josef Venglos era before John Barnes came in the door the following season.

Mark showed undeniable talent but things would go south very quickly at Celtic under Barnes with Mark refusing to go back out and play the rest of the game against Inverness Caley Thistle when the minnows knocked John Barnes’ side out of the cup and subsequently sent Barnes packing at Celtic.

When Martin O’Neill came in at the end of that season, Viduka made it clear he wanted to move on even though Martin was keen to keep him. Martin respected his wishes and the striker was sole, the club reinvesting the money to buy Chris Sutton – not a bad bit of business.

Ange is making his own Celtic history in Glasgow and it’s great to see Mark giving him some plaudits.
