Amid speculation surrounding Kieran Tierney’s future at Arsenal, discussions about a potential return to Celtic have emerged, fueled by his diminishing role under Mikel Arteta’s management.

Tierney, who made a high-profile move from Celtic to Arsenal in 2019, has found his opportunities limited, prompting rumours of an exit from the London club.

Former Celtic full-back and current pundit for Clyde 1 Super Scoreboard Mark Wilson expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of Tierney returning to Celtic Park, acknowledging the significant impact he could have.”Have Tierney back? Of course! Who wouldn’t!?”

However, Wilson also recognised the financial and career implications of such a move. “There will be a queue of teams for him if he’s not going to fit back in at Arsenal,” he noted.

“He’s a Celtic fan and I’m sure he’d love to come back and represent the club again but when he’s in the peak of his career he’s earning x amount of money. Celtic will never be able to match it and unfortunately, I can not see it happening this summer.”

Tierney’s time under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic was marked by exceptional performance, and his love for the club is well known. Yet, as Wilson points out, the financial and professional considerations at this peak stage of Tierney’s career make a return to Celtic a challenging proposition. As speculation continues, Tierney’s future, whether at Arsenal, Real Sociedad, or elsewhere, remains a topic of interest for fans and pundits alike.
