Celtic winger Mikey Johnston got himself on the scoresheet twice at Dens Park on Tuesday afternoon. His goals helped his side towards a valuable 3-0 victory.
The performance from the Hoops was dominant and after he bagged a brace, winger Johnston posted on Instagram. He captioned a few snaps from the game with ‘Three points, two goals, and merry Christmas’:
He hasn’t taken his previous chances in the Celtic team, although the Irishman certainly did today. He will have been relieved to have scored for the Hoops for the first time in four years.
His impactful cameo has provided manager Brendan Rodgers with somewhat of a headache going into this weekend’s Glasgow derby. Luis Palma has been the pick of choice from the gaffer over the past few months but one cannot ignore a player who just scored twice in ten minutes off the bench.
Johnston has undoubtedly staked his claim, but to start him would be a risk. This afternoon was the first time the attacker seized his opportunity and in such a colossal game, there is no question that Rodgers should go with tried and tested.
