Celtic drew 0-0 with Hibernian on Saturday afternoon. Despite a late surge, the Bhoys couldn’t conjure much at Easter Road.

It was a disappointing result for the Bhoys although elsewhere in their Champions League group, there was a disheartening loss. Indeed Feyenoord travelled to face FC Twente on Sunday.

Despite a late goal from captain Lutsharel Geertruida, the side from de Kuip lost out by two goals to one. Similar to Celtic, signs of a European hangover were coherent for Arne Slot’s men who had just beaten Lazio a few days prior.

The Italians, however, bounced back from their defeat in the Netherlands. Hosting Bologna on Monday evening, it took them until the 95th minute to take the lead.

The goal itself wasn’t even from open play either. Ciro Immobile managed to keep a composed head to net from the spot in the dying embers.

Elsewhere in Group E, Atletico Madrid, Celtic’s current back-to-back opponents, were in action. They faced Deportivo Alaves and ran out 2-1 winners at the Wanda Metropolitano. Young winger Rodrigo Riquelme got on the scoresheet along with Alvaro Morata.

The Spanish centre-forward continued his current hot streak in this one, bagging a goal and an assist alike. Morata will be keen to keep on with his form when the Celts come to town next week. Before that, however, Atleti face a trip to Gran Canaria, where they face Las Palmas in La Liga on Friday evening.

All around in Celtic’s Champions League section, there were some close calls. It is clear that the busy fixture schedule is beginning to take hold of teams and the Bhoys were not alone in their drop in performance on the weekend.
