NEIL LENNON has surprisingly came out in favour of the yellow card he received during Celtic’s win over Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon.

The bhoys swept Killie aside after an early scare to make it 3-1 on the day and six wins out of six. The game wasn’t without controversy though and a late penalty awarded to Kilmarnock so a very animated Neil Lennon be reported to the referee Greg Aitken by fourth official Bobby Madden.

Fraser Forster saved the penalty but it would be after the fact Neil Lennon would be booked for voicing his displeasure at the decision.

Speaking to SunSport after the game, the Celtic manager thought it was a good thing on reflection. He didn’t go so far as to repent but the Irishman took it on the chin.

He said: “It’s great. It’s like a warning to calm down. It’s fine.

“I’ve no issue with that at all. Bobby is a great official.

“I was talking recently about not losing my temper!

“I didn’t lose it that badly but you get a warning and that’s it.

“I was voicing my opinion to the fourth official, maybe a bit demonstrably and you’re not allowed to do that any more.

“But there’s no real issue there at all.

‘I was a bit disappointed with the penalty but I’m not going to criticise the referee for that.

“I was not happy with the yellow card because I just reacted the same way any other manager would have.

“But overall I thought the referee was fine.”

Forster saving the penalty took the sting out of Neil Lennon’s post match interview for sure.

Celtic have managed 18 points out of 18 so far this season and have shown no signs of stopping.
