NEIL LENNON will reunite with an old pal in Cyprus after Garry Parker confirmed he would be joining the Irishman at Omonia.

Lennon took the post last week and had been looking around for an assistant. Scott Brown’s name was mentioned, but we understand Scott is weighing up his next move carefully.

Garry was brought to Celtic by Neil Lennon during his first time around at Parkhead as the boss. Parker also joined Neil at Bolton and Hibernian.

CeltsAreHere understands Peter Lawwell would NOT allow Neil to re-sign Garry during his last spell in charge of the club.

Speaking to Sunsport, Parker is buzzing to be back in the game:

“Have I missed Neil? Always. We last worked together at Hibs and it’s great to be back with him. It’s been too long.

“He’s a good man and he’s brilliant to work with.

“It only took me a few minutes to decide to accept his offer to come down to Cyprus.

“As long as it’s right that I can do it, I will always go and work with Neil.

“We get on well with each other, we know the game, we rub off each other. I know what he expects and we get results, touch wood.

“I was delighted to see Neil getting back into management where he belongs. He’s wanted to return to the game since he left Celtic and now he’s got this tremendous opportunity.

“The time’s come, he’s got his chance – and hopefully it will go well.

“Neil needs to be in work and he needs to be managing.”

Neil has a big task on his hands in Cyprus. The former Hoops manager began life in Cyprus with a 2-2 draw at the weekend, his side conceding a last minute goal to deny Neil a winning start.

Parker will no doubt be a big help for Neil and will help to get his ideas over.

It seems like a lifetime ago Parker was at Celtic and it’ll be tough going over in Cyprus.

We wish Garry and Neil all the best.
