NEIL LENNON has revealed that Ange Postecoglou inspired him to take his management job in Cyprus.

Having been jobless since he was relieved from his duties at Parkhead, Lennon took to step back into the hot seat, joining Omonia. So far, the Northern Irishman’s record isn’t brilliant, drawing five of his first eight games and only winning two.

However, the manager, who had two stints at Parkhead, has guided his team to the semi-final of the cup, with the first leg to kick off at 5 pm on Tuesday.

Neil Lennon revealed he took inspiration from Ange’s career, saying;

“I love the whole opportunity here,” he told the Scottish Sun.

“When you look at what Ange Postecoglou has done at Celtic, I was out of the game and thinking, ‘Why not try something different?’.

“Ange has worked in Australia, Japan and now Scotland.

“I thought, ‘Why not?’ to working abroad. I know it’s not one of the top leagues but it could lead to somewhere if things go well.

“I had options in South Korea, Greece and Turkey.

“I’ve been here over a month and haven’t regretted a single day. It’s revitalised me.”

If I’m being totally honest, Neil is better at taking inspiration from his management and playing style.

Lennon also reveals he has a rebuilding job to do in Cyprus;

“Omonia were the champions last year but it’s not been a good season for various reasons. I’ve got a rebuilding job to do.

“If we don’t win the trophy, the bigger picture is about putting a team together to win back the league next year.”

Last season never worked out for several reasons, but the main one was the fact that Lennon refused to let go, and when get did, it was too late.
