CHRIS SUTTON has told the Celtic support he doesn’t think Neil Lennon has calmed down one bit since the last time he was in charge of Celtic.

The former Celtic striker and team-mate of Neil Lennon believes the current Celtic gaffer is as intense and passionate as he used to be – but that wasn’t a bad thing.

Sutton told SunSport : “Look, honestly, Neil might be maturing with age. But deep down, I think Neil’s full of s*** when he says that he’s calmed down.

“The Neil Lennon I knew, the Neil Lennon I know — he’s all in.

“This is a guy who has a superb football brain. But I don’t believe he’s calm for one minute.

“He was the most passionate player I ever played with. I can imagine every day he wakes up, it’s all about winning. Neil’s an intense character.

“That’s what made him such a great player — and why he’s done well in his management career.”

Neil Lennon had a joke at his own expense at the weekend when just a day or so after he claimed he was calmer in the dugout he got a yellow card for protesting a penalty given to Kilmarnock.

The Irishman has fire in his belly and his winning mentality drives the way he goes about his business.

We are a long way from the guy who used to jump up and down on the sidelines – punching the technical area and kicking bottles over.

He is a bit more measured in his older age but if Lenny feels there’s an injustice being done he will turn into his own version of martin O’Neill in Turin.
