HATEM ABD ELHAMED has had a solid start to his Celtic career. The defender has looked assured and put in a top performance at Ibrox at the start of the month after not training for ten days prior to the game.

The Israeli has been the surprise package of the transfer window with Neil Lennon bringing him in for a low transfer fee. Celtic fans weren’t expecting much from the player and some could even be described as disgruntled when Hatem first signed. Since then, he’s made everybody eat their words with some great performances.

The move to Celtic happened very fast and with the logistics of having a family in his home country the Celtic star has been living past two months without his wife and kids.

The Celtic defender made the revelation he hadn’t seen his family in two months since the move with the game against Rennes the first chance he had to see his son.

A difficult thing for any family man to deal with as you sit in a foreign country not knowing many people. It’s amazing to think Elhamed still put in as many good performances as he has under the circumstances.

Speaking about his setup, the defender revealed the situation but also confirmed his family have made the move and they’re ready for the next chapter.

“I haven’t been home yet and that has been tough.” Hatem told SunSport.

“My wife and son came over after the Rennes game and it was the first time I’d seen them for two months.

“This is the first time they have come in that period.

“I was very happy about that. It is very important for me.

“To not be with them for such a long time was very difficult — especially for my son.

“I am very happy that things have now changed and we are together again.
