The Celtic manager was asked today about the terms of Jeremy Toljan’s deal from Dortmund and whether the club had first option to buy the player come the summer with conflicting reports on deadline day.

Brendan Rodgers was quick to point out there was no such clause in the deal:

“We’re delighted, he’s a talented player, coming from one of the big leagues. He’s strictly just a loan for now” Rodgers told CelticTV

“We weren’t able to get him a few months back but it was one our recruitment team had been looking at for some time.

“He’s a player who can defend the middle of the field well but is very fast and dynamic.

Asked if Jeremy would be one of the 3 out of 4 new signings to be registered for Europe the Celtic manager responded: “I would think so, yeah.”

Jeremy has not played for Dortmund all season and coming to Celtic gives the defender a chance to show what he can do. Of course, there’s always the option to try and sign the player at the end of the season even without a first option.

Celtic have three current loan players who will not be with the club beyond the summer at this point and with a few out on-loan ready to come in next season; there’s going to be a different feel to the squad come August.

However, the bhoys have made some significant signings that will surely be a benefit going forward in this campaign.
