Sydney van Hooijdonk’s impending move to Norwich City has effectively cleared a significant hurdle for Celtic in their pursuit of Adam Idah.

Norwich was hesitant to approve Idah’s loan to Celtic until they secured a replacement, and with van Hooijdonk’s agreement to join the Canaries, this condition has now been met.

Mark Hendry reports that the roadblock has been removed and Van Hooijdonk is set to join the side.

Idah, a 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international, has been in discussions with Celtic as they seek to strengthen their attack during the ongoing transfer window. With striker Oh still away at the Asian Cup with South Korea, Celtic’s need for offensive reinforcements has been more pronounced.

Throughout the January transfer window, Celtic had been linked to Sydney van Hooijdonk.

However, with van Hooijdonk set to join Norwich City, Celtic’s focus has shifted to finalising the loan deal for Idah.

Despite these developments, a sense of dissatisfaction lingers among Celtic fans. The transfer window has not lived up to the expectations set by Brendan Rodgers, who had promised the addition of 3-4 “quality” players. As the window draws to a close, Celtic supporters are left hoping for more significant signings.
