It has been all quiet on the contract front for a while but sources at the club claim there’s a growing confidence Odsonne Edouard will sign a new bumper deal at Celtic.

The Frenchman has two-years left on his deal but the club don’t want to see Eddy run down his contract until the last year. Having two years left on his current deal means the club would get the most for him this summer with regards to transfer fee.

However, if the player does sign a new deal, it will give the talisman a bump up in wages and give Celtic the security that he won’t go on the cheap down the road.

Speaking to Football Insider, a Celtic source told the website progress was being made:

‘An agreement is not yet in place with the centre-forward and his camp but constructive discussions have taken place and there is a growing confidence in the Parkhead boardroom that a deal can be done.’

The Edouard deal is a pivotal piece of business the supporters want to see done. It would go a long way to boosting our chances of ten in a row.
