It was no secret the Ibrox pitch was in a shocking state – it was a talking point in the lead up to the Glasgow derby before the game was eventually called off.

The pitch was in dire straits and it was widely accepted Celtic would find it difficult to play their silky brand of football on the field while The Rangers would find it easier.

A month later, with the shutdown showing no signs of ending, the Ibrox club have taken the unprecedented decision of ripping up their pitch and relaying a new one while the shutdown continues.

The idea being they think they can have it sorted within a month so if football returns in the summer they’ll be ready.

However, is this the biggest giveaway the SPFL are set to call time on this league season?

Surely the club would have asked permission or at least ran it by the SPFL.

There’s a meeting underway right now to discuss the future of this season and how to proceed.

Is the Ibrox club getting their ducks in a row for next season.

Celtic have been clear from the beginning, they want the season to be played to a finish. However, they have understood this might not be able to happen. If the league is called, the bhoys are thirteen points clear and were heading towards nine in a row.
