Celtic ran out eventual 3-1 winners in Perth on Sunday afternoon. It didn’t seem likely in the first half, although the Hoops got into their stride in the end and worked their way to victory.
Matt O’Riley was key in the win, indeed scoring the goal that put the Hoops ahead with just over ten minutes to go. His strike was a thing of sheer beauty. From range, the Danish midfielder leathered the ball into the top corner with his weaker right foot.
Post-match, his teammate Alistair Johnston posted a story on Instagram, captioning a photo of O’Riley with ‘This Danish lad is quite good at football’:
The Celtic right-back isn’t wrong, and in response to it, O’Riley promised to the Canada international that he will score from one of his cross-balls eventually:
It seems to be an inside joke between the pair that O’Riley is yet to convert from a Johnston cross. This is undoubtedly something to look out for as the season unfolds.
