Celtic is on the brink of securing a deal for Australian international Marco Tilio, according to Record Sport.

The Scottish Champions are ramping up their summer transfer activity under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers, with Tilio set to be the latest addition to the squad. Tilio clearly has been sounded out by Mark Lawwell and his team and has the bless on Rodgers to complete the deal.

The negotiations have since progressed significantly, with both clubs agreeing on a transfer fee. The 21-year-old Socceroo has also settled personal terms, with the move now pending a work permit and the completion of necessary documentation.

Melbourne City’s manager, Rado Vidosic, conceded the likely departure of Tilio in a recent interview. “I doubt we will be able to keep him. He has had a fantastic season for us,” Vidosic admitted, acknowledging the player’s impressive performance in the A-League.

This potential signing follows Celtic’s first summer acquisition, young Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga. The Parkhead side is evidently keen on strengthening their squad, with a particular focus on promising young talent.

In addition to Tilio, Celtic is also pursuing South Korean player Yang Hyun-jun. However, fans will have to be patient as the club continues its negotiations for the promising player. This interest in South Korean talent follows the successful signing of striker Oh Hyeon-gyu in January.
