Former Celtic manager Wim Jansen welcomed his former assistant manager over to Holland this week for the release of his biography.

Jansen and MacLeod masterminded the downfall of Rangers when they attempted to break Celtic’s record of nine titles in a row.

Celtic were still going through major changes and a few years previous had nearly had the doors shit at Celtic Park due to debt accumulated during the Kelly boardroom reign.

That season, Fergus McCann entrusted Wim to come in and do the business for Celtic.

The Dutchman, who previously played against the Hoops when Feyenoord beat Jock Stein’s men in the 1970 European Cup final, now was in charge of an incredibly important season in our history.

Wim got down to business at Celtic Park signing a certain Swedish striker and flanked by Murdo they got the business done in the most dramatic of fashion.

The league title race went down to the final day of the season with Celtic needing a win against St Johnstone to secure their first title in ten years.

Larsson scored early that day, but it wasn’t until Harold Brattback grabbed the second that anxiety around the new Celtic Park lifted and the party began. With ten minutes to go, the SPL trophy flew over Celtic Park and landed in time for the bhoys celebration.

Wim was one and done with Celtic. He came into the club for one season – bagged two trophies, wrote himself into Celtic folklore and walked off into the sunset.

We look forward to reading the great man’s book.

It was sad to hear the former Celtic boss has been diagnosed with Dementia, a horrible disease that has affected so many people. We wish Wim and his family all the best.
