Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has spoken out to the media, giving his thoughts on this summer’s transfer window for the first time since deadline day two weeks ago.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s return to competitive action, the Hoops boss is happy with the outcome and the club’s work this summer but admitted the number of players brought in is probably too much for one window.

“As you said, it was hectic right up until the final day, which we kind of expected.

“It was a busy period, but it had to be. It was pretty clear that with a number of departures last year and even a number of departures during the window, even on the last day that we had to bring in a fair few players.

“So, it’s not as easy as sort of selecting the ones you want and bringing them in as we found. It was a bit of a challenge.

“Every deal we made had a lot of work behind it. We brought in 12 in the end, which is probably too many in one window, to be fair. But that’s what we needed.

“In the end, I’m pretty pleased with the outcome, in terms of we know what we’ve got now, we’ve got players who are in and committed for the next period, and we can start working.”

Going into the summer, Celtic fans knew that a lot of business was needed in the squad with the size of the rebuild that the new manager had on his hands.

In the end, we came out with 12 players. Most of which will contribute to the first-team squad, but also some younger players who you would imagine are more seen as the future.

Ange is right in the sense that is too many players to be bringing in across one summer transfer window.

This should be a lesson for all involved at the club. We need to be more prepared going into these windows, starting in January.

From some of Postecoglou’s comments, it feels like we are headed in that sort of direction with some sort of planning. So, let’s hope more is put in place between now and then.

  1. Well we now have two great RBs a new LB would be welcome but we now have a good young LB making a move we still have 3 or 4 dead wood players we should move out and they should not be training with the rest of the squad they should be told to find another club and put up for sale or put out on loan.
