The latest reports suggest that a deal to bring the player from the MLS to the SPFL is all but complete, with just the small details to be finalised.

He’s said to be a replacement for Josip Juranovic, who could be set to leave the club this January after talks over a new contract broke down before he jetted off to the World Cup.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Postecoglou confirmed that Alistair Johnston was one of the players Celtic were looking at as an option for the January window, admitting he’s hoping for a deal to be announced soon. He said: [The Herald]

“We’re looking at a number of players”

“We are looking to get stronger and he’s definitely one of the players on our radar.

“Hopefully there will be some developments in the near future and he can add something to our football club.”

Celtic are getting its business completed before the January window even opens. The club announced their first signing of the window in November, and now that Canada has fallen out of the World Cup, it opens the door to finalising a deal with Alistair Johnston.
