According to the well-informed guys over at the Transfer Podcast, Arsenal have made ‘solid’ contact with the Hoops over a move for Odsonne Edouard.

The fee that was mentioned during the podcast was around £21.6m.

A lower transfer fee than many would have suggested just 12 months ago but due to the player entering the final year of his deal along with the market crashing because of the pandemic, everything appears to be recalibrating.

Edouard is expected to leave this summer and Arsenal seem like the frontrunners to take the player on.

Any French clubs who might have been interested are now living under the financial uncertainty of a collapsed TV deal and would be unlikely to be able to match any EPL club.

Celtic have to get the best deal possible because there’s a hefty sell-on clause in Edouard’s deal with the Parkhead club and PSG, and also The Hoops need as much money in the kitty as possible for a rebuild.

If the club can get Arsenal to push their fee up to £25m, it might be the best deal for all concerned.
