Former Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis has been cleared of careless driving less than a month after he left Glasgow.

The Greek striker moved to Atlanta FC from Celtic, ending his 18 months in Scotland.

During his time in Glasgow, the striker was stopped by police and charged with careless driving, to which the striker pleaded not guilty.

The decision has now been taken not to proceed with the case.

A Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal spokesperson told The Sun: “It is the duty of the Crown to keep cases under review.

“After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, the Procurator Fiscal decided that there should be no further proceedings taken at this time.

The Greek frontman helped Celtic win their title back at the first time of asking after an impressive second half of the season spell.

His time at the club was short but memorable. The Procurator fiscal reserve the right to reopen the case if they see fit.

Celtic brought in South Korean Striker Oh to replace the outgoing Giakoumakis, and the club has already moved on from the player.

The bhoys in green are nine points ahead in the league with 12 games remaining. Giakoumakis will be due a league title medal should the bhoys go on to lift the title.
