Celtic winger Luis Palma has endured a sharp upturn in form over the past few weeks. Before the international break, the Honduran internationalist had scored two goals in three games, and on another day, could have easily netted versus Lazio in Europe.

It wasn’t meant to be that night although Palma soon bounced back. Going forward, he will be eager to continue his upward trajectory after impressing on international duty with Honduras.

Indeed pundit and former Hoops striker Simon Donnelly has recently praised the attacker, saying that he provides a different dynamic to the frontline. He said (Daily Record): “From what I have seen so far of Palma, he looks as though he can offer something a little different to the other wide players. Palma looks like a clever footballer, someone who has an intelligent brain and can link-up with his team-mates in attacking areas.”

Donnelly’s observation is one many Celtic fans have pointed out recently. Palma is not the most quick or skilful winger, but he is more than effective.

He has scored twice for the bhoys thus far, and Donnelly has been impressed. He stated: “And what he has shown in front of goal is technique. His strike against Kilmarnock was full of it and, even though the effort was ruled out, it was the same when he put the ball in the net against Lazio in the Champions League match.”

It was extremely cruel for Palma against the Italians. His celebrations would have been iconic, but the goal itself proved his ability.

In recent times, he has caught the eye and is moulding himself into a continual starter under Brendan Rodgers. Against Hearts this weekend, he will be aiming to come to the fore once again.
