It’s battle of the former Celtic frontmen in the media!

Charlie Nicholas has had a go at Chris Sutton weeks after Sutton had a dig at Charlie’s comments about Celtic in the media.

Now, the former Soccer Saturday host is delighted to point out Chris has come around to his way of thinking but admitted he was having a laugh at Sutton’s expense.

“I was sitting here thinking about Chris Sutton.” Charlie wrote in his Mail Column as cited by RecordSport.

“Okay, maybe I wasn’t really sitting thinking about him, I was more sitting chuckling at him.

“A few weeks ago Chris had a wee dig at me on Twitter after I criticised Celtic’s transfer activity.

“Since then he seems to have come round to my way of thinking.

“At times, he has been even more critical of the Celtic team and some of its players. I listened to his rant last Thursday about Mohamed Elyounoussi and Leigh Griffiths.

“These are the same two players who have dragged Celtic out of a hole in recent weeks. They have produced.

“The more I listen to Chris the more he reminds me of Donald Trump!

“I will let the readers make up their own minds on that one.”

It’s quite the accusation by Charlie, claiming Chris is full of hot air.

If you ask most Celtic fans who is most positive about the club, most would say Chris Sutton.

However, his Thursday night want after the Europa League debacle was way off base. He called out Moi Elyounoussi for checking his phone and Leigh Griffiths for his fitness at the start of this campaign. Charlie is right, both have done their bit for Celtic this season.

Sutton didn’t want to turn his attention to Neil Lennon’s role in the Sparta Prague game and many pointed out he was all for sacking Ronny Deila after Molde.

It’s hard to be critical of friends and former team-mates in the press but you have to be consistent.

For the most part, Charlie does try to find the negative in Celtic. We have won 11 trophies on the bounce and we get tired of calling Charlie out on his nonsense.
