Aberdeen are considering a move for Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist ahead of the summer transfer window, according to RecordSport.

Current Dons number one Kelle Roos’ contract with the club expires at the end of May. He is yet to commit to a new deal and thus the club are looking at potential options should the Dutchman move on in a few months.

32-year-old Siegrist, who has just three competitive Celtic appearances to his name, is said to be on a shortlist of potential summer options.

Brought in on a free transfer from Dundee United just over a year and a half ago, Siegrist has failed to make the impact he would have hoped to in Glasgow. He still, though, has over two years remaining on his Parkhead contract so any permanent departure would see the Hoops rake in a fee.

Such funds could go towards a new number one. Joe Hart is retiring at the end of the season and it is no secret that Celtic will be in the market for a first-choice stopper.

A departure for Siegrist, who recently changed his agent and saw a move to Sturm Graz collapse, could mean Brendan Rodgers needs to sign two ‘keepers in the summer, something he admitted could be in the works.
