Brought in on transfer deadline day from Norwich City on loan, Adam Idah’s acquisition wasn’t met with much excitement from many of the Celtic fanbase. After he played just half an hour against Aberdeen at the weekend, though, eyebrows were raised.

The Irish frontman made a noticeable impact on the game in the minutes he played, appearing as a presence up top who was quick, powerful, and effective. He registered an assist for Nicolas Kuhn’s leveller to complete a positive debut.

Should the 22-year-old continue on his current upward trajectory, supporters will soon be calling for him to be bought all out. Despite there being no agreement in the loan with Norwich regarding a buy-option, the fee the Hoops would need to pay to sign the player permanently this summer has been revealed.

Per a report in the Irish Daily Mirror (print edition, page 45, via TBR Football), Celtic could sign Idah for a fee in excess of £3m upon the expiration of his loan deal. Such a fee is well within the Hoops’ budget, but time will tell whether a permanent pursuit of the centre-forward surfaces.
