Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt have been utterly solid at the heart of the Celtic defence over the last two seasons. The pair have formed a formidable partnership which has kept the Hoops’ rearguard watertight.

Both players have been pivotal to the club’s success of late. Starfelt and Carter-Vickers have equally played their part in recent times and it is no surprise to hear of transfer interest in the former.

Celtic defender starfelt

According to Football Scotland, Russian side Spartak Moscow are preparing an offer for Starfelt, which will come in the next few days. They need to add experience to their backline ahead of the new Russian league campaign, which started on Friday evening, and Starfelt is an ideal candidate.

We know that the signing of Polish centre half Maik Nawrocki to Celtic is as good as done. His addition will bring yet more depth to the defence of the champions but if Starfelt decides to return to Russia, Celtic could be forced into the market for another centre back.

Carl has previously played in Russia but would he want to go to the country at a time of conflict?
