Celtic appear to be charging ahead with plans for next season with the news they are still pursuing targets.

Don’t ask us who is doing the pursuing, but it appears the club don’t want to sleep on potential bargains.

According to Football Insider, Celtic are closing in on a pre-contract deal for Sheffield Wednesdays Liam Shaw. The 19-year-old central midfielder is out of contract in the summer and has attracted interest from a few clubs.

The new report claims Celtic are close to an agreement which will see Liam make the summer switch to the Hoops.

The Parkhead side would only have to pay a nominal UEFA imposed training fee for the player if he does make the move and would present a low risk buy, even if there is a change of manager in the summer.

Celtic famously missed out on top target Ben Davies at the death after they couldn’t close the deal with the defender and Liverpool came swooping in.

It’s been a common theme over the piece with Celtic, they don’t just go and get deals done, they mull over things way too long and miss their top targets.

Will the Shaw deal get over the line, it looks more likely but until it’s announced, you just never know.
