CELTIC have been in talks with Sheffield Wednesday’s young star Liam Shaw and according to reports, the club is closing in on a deal for the midfielder.

Celtic are hunting in the pre-contract market and as they continue talks with Ben Davies of Preston, they’re also trying to land the 19-year-old midfielder.

Football Insider claims the deal is close between the two parties. There’s no big plan to get Liam in early so talks could go beyond the transfer window and the club can make a pre-contract announcement.

Shaw has made the breakthrough with Sheffield Wednesday this season and their fans seem disappointed the player could be on his way.

Celtic are not really in need of midfielders at the moment but will have spaces in the squad come the summer.

There’s likely to be a new regime and new manager at the club by the time pre-season rolls around.

  1. And precisely who cares about attempts to sign second rate players who will never kick a ball for the club. Anyone signed by Lennon is tarnished, Lennon is tarnished, his entire legacy at the club means nothing. If he really felt for the club he would have resigned in November, when it was apparent to everyone that he could do nothing to stop the rot. And what we have 2 months later is this. Watching the worst Celtic team in 30 years, worse than Mowbray’s time and he continues to disgrace himself every week. Good grief man Go.
