Celtic has set its sights on a mid-season deal for Rapid Vienna’s winger, Nicolas Kuhn.

SunSport indicate that the Hoops have been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old German throughout this season. Celtic’s manager, Brendan Rodgers, is looking to ramp up his offensive lineup in the next few weeks.

Kuhn, a former talent of Ajax and Bayern Munich and capable of playing as a striker, has caught Celtic’s attention with his stellar performance at Rapid. Kuhn embarked on his football journey with RB Leipzig as a youth, then moved on to Ajax and Bayern. The German Under-20 international shifted to Rapid Vienna in 2022, where he has shone in the Austrian Bundesliga.

The Austrian club secured him for about £500,000 but could look for upwards of £2million.

Rodgers, speaking after a victory against Rangers on Saturday, expressed his commitment to Celtic’s quest for top-tier talent. He’s already urged his scouts to elevate the caliber of players joining the team. When probed about what supporters should anticipate this month, Rodgers remarked, “I don’t know. I’ll tell you once they’re announced, once they’re in. I’m relaxed but focused. I want quality. And that’s what we need to improve.”

Celtic are expected to strengthen but they’re also expected to move players on.

Earlier this season, Brendan Rodgers told CeltsAreHere that there are players still at the club who were supposed to move on back in the summer.

Celtic need to make sure they get those types of players out the door and off the wage bill. The game against Rangers should be the catalyst for the rest of the season but this squad still needs reshaped.
