Celtic have reportedly matched the bid on the table from Aston Villa for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn.

The Scottish international spent Tuesday touring the Villa facilities down in Birmingham with the club booking a medical.

However, Celtic have matched that valuation which is rumoured to be around £3million plus add ons according to the Evening Times.

They also report that it’s now down to the player himself to decide where his future lies.

Being a massive Celtic fan, it would appear the club have the edge but Villa will no doubt try and financially out muscle the Scottish Champions to land the star.

  1. If this is true and it comes down to salary, we can’t compete. So if McGinn chose an English club over us, it bears having another Stuart Armstrong on our hands!
I’d like him in our squad, but I’d rather see two good central defenders and a good goalie.

  2. Strange how until another team show interest Celtic were standing firm on their offer, then suddenly they say they will match the offer tight fisted club

  3. Let John decide if he wants wage over Greened rage.As Wae the cash cow he’ll get in Villa He can pop up in his Helicopter / Lear jet Wae his weekly wage and see Celtic play every other fortnight. Or come to Paradise and make a quarter of the Villa wage. His decision, not. HIBS NOR CELTICS.
