Celtic are set to listen to loan offers for last summer’s defensive signing Maik Nawrocki, according to Sky Sports News.
It does seem a bit surprising that Celtic is considering listening to offers for Maik Nawrocki.
Nawrocki’s time at Celtic has been marred by injuries, which have prevented him from consistently displaying his capabilities on the pitch, but he has looked good when he last played.
Despite these challenges, Nawrocki’s commitment to fight for his place at Celtic, as evidenced by his decision to turn down a previous loan offer back to Legia Warsaw this summer, demonstrates his desire to succeed at the club. This attitude is commendable and suggests he believes he can still make a significant impact.
From Celtic’s perspective, exploring loan options for Nawrocki might be seen as a way to help him regain form and confidence through regular first-team football, particularly if his path to the starting lineup at Celtic is blocked by other preferred choices.
However, he’s not going to go on loan and shake off his injury issues, which have prevented him from becoming a regular starter at Celtic. So what are Celtic really expecting to gain form loaning him out?
If Brendan Rodgers doesn’t see Nawrocki as part of his long-term plans, a permanent move might be more beneficial for all parties involved, allowing Celtic to possibly recoup some of their investment and Nawrocki to establish himself at a club where he can be a regular starter.
It’s certainly an interesting one to watch. Celtic do need to bring in reinforcements at the back, and you’d have expected Nawrocki to play some part in this. But if he’s not part of the plans, move him on and replace him.
At the moment it still remains as guessing games upon what decisions Rodgers is going to make in finalising his 25man squad?
If we were to presume that letting rocki go, is Rodgers decision, then I can understand it?
Personally would regard Rocki as a better player than Welsh imo?
Yet going by how Rodgers tackled the keepers position, then it looks like Rodgers thinking at present, is beyond just this season ahead imo?
With that in mind, I can totally understand why Rodgers would place Welsh before rocki in his planning, especially with the homegrown quota in mind?
Therefore, it would mean another CB is required, and been rumours that we were in the market for adding another CB anyway?
Furthermore, I still would say that Dane Murray is potentially looking at being a 5th choice CB option, moreso with the future in mind?
But Murray could still fill a position as a homegrown player, which in turn allows for another LB to be added also?
Wouldn’t effect our homegrown quota required within the squad?
But more importantly, it would free up space for Rodgers to get into the squad the extra quality within the defensive set up that he’s possibly looking for also imo?
So if rocki, Yuki and the largerman aren’t within the longer term plans of Rodgers, then so be it?
Could understand rocki being loaned out, in an effort to recoup as much of the fee we paid out for him originally?
But Yuki and the largerman would be possibly sold if the right offers were received?
Hopefully another CB and LB can be added, so the defensive set up is completed, not for this coming season in mind, but beyond that also imo?
Wouldn’t be a plan from Rodgers if such were to be put in place, that I could really find fault with either imo?
But until the window actually shuts, you can never be for certain that Rodgers has such a plan in operation in the first instance either?
