It was at the beginning of this week the Edinburgh Evening news claimed Celtic were tracking Hibs goalkeeper Ofir Marciano. The Israeli goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the season and the Hoops are in desperate need of a first team goalkeeper.

While there’s no new manager or Sporting director to speak of at the moment, there are still people like Nicky Hammond at the club who are working behind the scenes to identify players who could be available at a bargain price any new manager could work with.

It’s been confirmed overnight by Record Sport, Ofir has rejected a deal to stay at Hibernian and will leave at the end of this campaign. This will spark more rumours the Bhoys could swoop for the shot-stopper in the coming weeks.

Barkas, Bain and Hazard have all had their turn in goals with Bain being preferred at this moment in time. None have covered themselves in glory and our goalkeeping problems have been a real issue this season.

Whoever comes in needs to get a goalkeeper into the club who can inspire confidence and can do the fundamentals well without needing a huge settling in period.

Is Marciano the guy?
