Ross County chairman has told Radio Scotland, he doesn’t see a scenario where Scottish football will start before August at the very earliest after the emergency shut down on Friday.

People are today trying to wrap their heads around the news there will be no football for the foreseeable future while society deals with the outbreak of Covid-19.

It’s going to be a long road ahead but an even longer road than maybe some anticipate if you listen to Roy MacGregor.

“I do think it is going to be personally difficult to start the league again.

“Because you can say you can shut down for three weeks but players have to prepare for games.

“In three weeks time another club gets hit in some way, or farms in an area gets hit.

“So it is really really challenging. Major sports [golf] are realising they might not get the Open played in July.

“Personally I think it is going to be a challenge just to get football started in August, far less anything else.

“We would encourage players to be with their families, that is the most important thing.”

If that’s the case, the fight for our title will have to come off the field. Not ideal in the slightest and any Celtic fan will tell you where they want to win the league, but in these extraordinary times we know if the shoe was on the other foot, the peepel would grab this opportunity with their grubby wee hands.

It’s all about common sense, if we were to get behind closed door football back quicker, we’d be all for that at this point.
