BRENDAN RODGERS has spoke of the discipline he has drilled into the players since he came in as Celtic manager two years ago.

The Irishman has been very complimentary of how well his squad has come back to pre-season in good shape, but that is not by accident but by design.

The double treble winning gaffer has left nothing to chance and completely overhauled the players mentality when he took the Celtic job.

Speaking about the difference, Rodgers admits that his worst player to report back for training would have been his best back when he took over.

“If they come in and they are two-and-a-half kilos over what their best weight is then they won’t train with the squad,”

“It’s very simple, they can train but it won’t be with the first team.”

“Where the culture is now, our worst player this season in terms of the tests and measures we do, was our best measure when I came in,”

“Football is science and art, and for me it’s an art, but what you can’t deny is the science of the game is absolutely and it’s that fusion between both. And especially when you play a technical game, if you play a high-level technical game if you’re not fit the first thing that goes is your technique. So in order to play with intensity, to play with aggression and play all of that you need to be super fit, simple.“
