GIORGOS GIAKOUMAKIS is in the US finalising his move to MLS side Atalanta United, with the manager confirming things should get tied up soon. Ruthlessly, he already has made it clear Giak is not on his radar anymore.

A late but improved bid from the American side saw a change of heart from the Greek striker, after he completed a medical for Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds.

There is plenty of time for the move to be completed, with the American window open until April and the League season not getting started until the end of February.

Speaking to CeltsAreHere.com, Ange Postecoglou provided the latest on the Giakoumakis situation, admitting he’s not in the know. He said:

“As I said the other day, it’ll get concluded fairly soon. To be honest, it’s not on my radar at all. I’ll hear about it at the same time as you guys. If you’re on Instagram, you might hear about it earlier than me! It’s not on my radar, he’s not back in the group but a deal hasn’t been finalised yet.”

Celtic were proactive in the market and brought in Korean striker Oh and have let him settle in before Giakoumakis officially departs.

The latest signing isn’t entirely up to speed yet, but he’s made two appearances from the bench so far and has looked impressive. He’s a different player compared to Giakoumakis, but his height adds a physical presence to the front three.

Ange has told CeltsAreHere that he doesn’t fall in love with players because they would only end up breaking his heart. How he’s shifted from seeing Giakoumakis from one of his players to an afterthought without skipping a beat is ruthless and the sign of a top manager.
