Celtic coach Harry Kewell was linked with a move to Japan last week to go and manage Ange Postecoglou’s former club, Yokohama F. Marinos. Such a move would leave a vacancy in Brendan Rodgers’ backroom team.

Currently, club legend Scott Brown is out of work having been sacked by Fleetwood a few months ago. The ex-captain, however, refused to be drawn on any speculation surrounding a return to Celtic. He said (Glasgow Times): “But I am in no rush to dive back into something at this moment in time. I am going to take time, chill, see my kids who I have probably not seen in the last three years and watch them play football over the winter in the lovely rain.”

Although he had vast success as a player under Rodgers, it doesn’t seem as though Brown is eager to work under the Irishman post-playing career yet. He is focusing on his family at the minute, which is understandable considering the length and stresses of his playing days.

A move into a coaching or management role at Celtic in the future would not be surprising. To get to the stage where he would be competent to do so, though, the 38-year-old has to gain much more experience.
