LAWRENCE SHANKLAND has commented on speculation linking the striker with a move to Celtic, Rangers* and Kilmarnock.

The Ayr striker has scored 28 goals in 26 games this season and is currently out with an injury.

There has been a lot of speculation about the player potentially making the move from Ayr in this transfer window, but when asked about playing in Scotland’s top flight with any of the teams mentioned, the lower league star was coy on the issue.

“Obviously it’s nice to have the speculation, people talking about you here and there, but it’s nothing that I get too caught up with.” Told Radio Clyde SuperScoreboard

“I just keep doing what I’m doing, working hard and the football will do the talking for me.

“I’m quite laid back but obviously I know where I want to go in my career and the next step I want to take and go and improve myself and push on again.

“It is something I will look at eventually when the time is right and I’ll deal with it then.”

There were rumours Celtic were scouting the player back in December, but after the bhoys bringing in Timothy Weah and Issouf Bayo, it would be incredibly unlikely Celtic would make a move for the frontman.

Celtic are back in action this weekend and will play a lower league side in Airdrie as they start their defence of the Scottish Cup. It’s a going to be fans first chance to see exactly what their new signings can do.
