LEIGH GRIFFITHS has fires a shot across the now of Celtic’s Glasgow Rivals with the two teams set to meet in a matter of weeks.

Leigh has played in many derbies and has scored at Ibrox before, so he knows what it’s all about.

Celtic have had great success in Govan under Brendan Rodgers and Leigh has had some cheeky digs at Steven Gerrard’s side but insists it’s all a bit of banter.

Since the striker tied a scarf on the post after a victory at the home of their rivals, the player joked the hardest thing to now do on the day is get near the goals AFTER the game.

The Ibrox club now put stewards on each post at full time when Celtic players go to celebrate with the support.

Speaking about it, Leigh thinks anyone upset by it has a short memory.

“It’s probably the closest I’ve been marked at Ibrox.” Leigh told RecordSport.

“It was very difficult to put another one there. But listen, it’s a bit of banter at the end of the day.

“Guys have short memories. I read somewhere that Rangers did the huddle at Celtic Park in 1999.

“Celtic fans had to endure that so it gets us a little bit of payback.”

Spot on Leigh! Celtic are now two points clear of their rivals with a game in hand. They could go further ahead in the weeks to come!
