Celtic’s plans for the January transfer window are taking shape, with reports from Stephen McGowan indicating that the club is interested in signing Tiago Araujo, a 22-year-old left-back currently with Estoril.
This news follows Celtic’s early exit from the Champions League and highlights manager Brendan Rodgers’ intent to bolster the squad with quality signings.
Araujo, who is contracted with Estoril until May 2025, stands out with his physical stature, notably taller than Celtic’s current first-choice left-back, Greg Taylor.
McGowan, who is one of the best sources when it comes to Celtic’s transfer rumours, notes that Rodgers is wanting the deal for the left-back, indicating that it could be his signing, rather than a club signing, a theme many fans believed happened throughout the summer.
In his coverage of Celtic’s match against Lazio for the Daily Mail, McGowan revealed Rodgers’ plans to target Araujo, who is rated at around £4 million.
Hopefully, Celtic can get a few players in January and give them time to settle down before playing and improving in the Champions League next season.
In the meantime, VATA will be snapped up as he’s never had a run out with the first team. What kind of incentive does he get…..NONE.
