Celtic academy graduate Stephen Welsh has came into the team over the past week and done himself proud. The centre-half has started the previous two matches, putting in respectable displays at Easter Road and the SMISA Stadium.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has been left pleased with how he and Liam Scales have made up for the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers. The American is a considerable miss, but the steely duo have remained solid.

Although they have made their contributions towards some key victories, there is an element of pressure on them to deliver. This, however, doesn’t faze Welsh.

The 24-year-old came through the youth ranks at Celtic. He knows the demands of the club yet enjoys the requirement of winning: “I have been under pressure for 15 years now”, he said (The Celtic Way).

“Every week you need to go and win. You enjoy it as well, you enjoy the pressure because you need to go and win.

“A draw or a defeat is a nightmare so yeah, we know the pressure and we stand up to it all the time.”

The current Celtic team is used to having to win titles. They have been over the course countless times previously, and such experiences can assuredly aid them going into a close race for the Premiership crown.
